Brewing...the first question is what type of brewer do you use.

There are several methods including french press, turkish, percolators, stove top, espresso, etc...and arguments for which type is best. For this we'll focus on the auto drip method used in most homes.

Water Type

It is best to use filtered or spring water. Distilled water lacks the minerals needed to bring out the flavor, and tap water often has too many other things mixing with your coffee flavor, but will result in a fine cup of coffee if properly filtered before brewing.

Water Temperature

This is unfortuantely not something that can be controlled with most drip coffee makers, but the ideal water temperature for brewing coffee is 200 degrees Farenheit.

Amount of Coffee

Exactly measured, you should use 55 grams of coffee per liter of water. This equates closely enough to 2 tablespoons per 6oz of water.
